I generally like Mangos, the sweet, creamy taste that varies according to species. The commonest ones are Binta sugar, mai warin gawasa, Dan-Abuja(dusha), and other mango species, all available in Arewa (Northern Nigeria).
Mangos are in season. If your yet to enjoy any recipe that calls for Mango, you still can do so. I have enjoyed several mango recipes in the last two months, and anyone in northern Nigeria (Arewa) can do so. Here are five simple ways to enjoy mangos this year.
1. JUICE: Juicing is one of the most typical fruits recipe you’ll find anywhere, and this makes it applicable to Mango, especially now that it’s the season. You can make easy and convenient mixed fruit juice(with Mango) or pure mango juice . You don’t need to have a juicer to enjoy the juice. All you need is a high-speed blender to enjoy homemade mango juice. It makes a perfect health juice to help wash and digest food. You can make pure mango juice, mango-mixed fruit juice, or better still Mango and vegetables such as cucumbers and carrots.

2. Smoothies: Smoothies are the new normal. Like juice, so are smoothies when it comes to the choice of fruits and vegetables. The difference here is smoothies are full of fibers, while juice has fewer fibers, making smoothies thicker, while juice thinner as drinks.
Mango, avocados, and watermelon are right fruit combinations for a smoothie. Also, Mango, watermelon, and pineapple is a right combination. Don’t forget to remove the brown head on pineapple and seeds in watermelon before blending.

3.Fruit Salad: you can enjoy Mango in a fruit salad. Select agreeable fruits, wash, remove unwanted seeds/speck, dice into small to medium size, add syrup and enjoy, See recipe. However, in fruit salads, you need a plumb mango, full of flesh with a sweet taste, to help complement other fruits and make it enjoyable.
If the Mango is unripe, you’ll need a lot of sugar to get desired taste; even at that, you’ll not get a commiserate taste as using a ripe mango.See recipe.
4. Mango Lassis; this is a milkshake way of enjoying Mango, Sweet, and flavored with spices/herbs of choice. It makes a yummy and delicious dessert. If you have kids, mango lassis can substitute for ice cream, especially now that our movement is restriction due to Covid-19.
Also, you get that icy yummy cream taste from this recipe without necessarily being iced. Your choice of Mango dramatically affects the resulting taste and, sometimes, color. I use dusha(dan-Abuja) species. It is fleshy, sweet, and naturally creamy. Here is how I make mango lassis

INGREDIENT:
1 ½ cup mango pulp,
Two (2) cups Yogurt
One(1) teaspoon Najlah savory spice (buy here)
Saffron
Sugar
Serving: 3
PROCEDURE
Put the yogurt in a freezer and allow to freeze.
Pour two cups yogurt, two cups mango extract, one teaspoon sugar in a blender, and blend until smooth without lumps.
Pour it in a bowl, top with some mango plumb (diced), sprinkle Najlah savory spice (buy here) and saffron
5.. Mango chips. If you have a dehydrator, you can make mango chips and enjoy as snacks; or preserve your Mango so you can use them even when they are out of season. Dehydration is a method of preserve food, especially with fruits like mangos that are seasonal.
Before the season ends, why not try any of these mango recipes. Would you?
